Privacy policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This policy explains what information FileTaco (filetaco.com) collects, how it is used and the choices you have. FileTaco is run by Chris Erbstoesser, an individual web developer in California, USA. Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@filetaco.com.

Files you add to the tools

The responsive image converter, font subsetter, SVG optimizer and favicon generator process files entirely in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to our server or to anyone else, and we cannot see, store or share them.

Server logs

Our hosting provider, Hostinger, automatically records standard request data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the date and time. These logs are used to keep the site secure, prevent abuse and fix problems. They are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify you or for advertising.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which tools are used most, which pages people arrive on and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and collects information such as pages viewed, time on site, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors.

You can learn how Google uses this information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which is how the tools stay free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies enable it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. If you opt out you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

Cookies and consent

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. FileTaco itself does not set cookies for tracking. The cookies used on this site are set by Google Analytics (to count visits and distinguish visitors) and by Google AdSense and its partners (to show, measure and personalize ads).

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform. Analytics and advertising cookies are only used for personalization or measurement where you have given consent, and you can choose to reject them. If you reject them, you may still see non-personalized ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown on the site.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools will keep working if you do.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, California law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, may give you the following rights:

  • Know and access. Ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why it was collected and who it was disclosed to.
  • Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to some exceptions.
  • Correct. Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. Allowing Google’s advertising cookies on this site may count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out using the privacy choices link on the site, through Google’s Ads Settings, or by turning on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we treat as a valid opt-out request.
  • Non-discrimination. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

The personal information collected through this site falls into these categories: internet and device activity (pages visited, interactions, browser and device data), identifiers (IP address and cookie or advertising IDs) and approximate location. We do not collect sensitive personal information. To make a request, email admin@filetaco.com. We may need to confirm your request before acting on it, and you can use an authorized agent to make a request for you.

Do Not Track. Browsers’ Do Not Track signals have no common standard, so we do not respond to them. We do honor Global Privacy Control as described above.

Children’s privacy

FileTaco is a general audience site for people working on websites. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact admin@filetaco.com and we will delete it.

If you email us

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed for that conversation.

Your rights in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent at any time. We rely on your consent for analytics and personalized advertising cookies and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website for server logs. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
